TÜViT has been conducting IT security testing and evaluations for about 15 years and has finished more than 400 projects in that field. These projects range from hardware (e.g. micro controllers, ASIC, smart cards and smart card readers, cryptographic co-processor, etc.) to software (e.g. smart card operating systems, personalization systems, secure file transfer, security libraries, etc.).

TÜViT is accredited by German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) as an Information Technology Security Evaluation Facility (ITSEF) for ITSEC and for Common Criteria.

In addition the TÜViT Evaluation Body for IT-Security is accredited by NIST / NVLAP (NVLAP-Code 200636-0) for Cryptographic Module Testing according to FIPS 140-1 & 140-2 as well as testing of FIPS-approved and NIST-recommended Cryptographic Algorithms. Thus, the TÜViT Evaluation Body for IT-Security is the first and up to now, the only FIPS 140 accredited evaluation body in Germany.

In the field of testing/evaluation services, TÜViT, as an independent authority, strengthens the adequate trust in quality, security and efficiency. Thus, TÜViT enhances the acceptance of products and systems as well as their operation in the financial sector, industry and public administration. In national and international research projects and bodies, TÜViT participates actively in developing the state of the technology.
